Eastern Pennsylvania Support Groups

There are two different types of support groups in Eastern Pennsylvania - Peer-led Support Groups and Professionally-led Support Groups.

 Peer-led Support Groups

RESOLVE Peer-led Support Groups are informal opportunities for women and men experiencing infertility to connect with one another, to discuss their situations and to receive support from others who have had similar experiences or who are struggling with similar issues. Group moderators are volunteers and are not mental health professionals. Attendance is free. Please contact the group host before attending your first meeting.

Don’t see a support group in your area? Want to start a new group? The first step in the process is to listen to a free one-hour TeleSeminar entitled “How to Start a Peer-Led Support Group”. After you listen to that training you will be given instructions on next steps in the process. We hope to make this process as simple and straightforward for you as possible, while also ensuring that our hosts have been adequately prepared for their role as group leader.

 Professionally-Led Support Groups

Professionally-led Support Groups are more structured than peer groups and form at various times throughout the year. They are led by trained and licensed therapists who are professional members of RESOLVE and specialize in assisting individuals and couples with the special challenges presented by the struggle of Infertility. Participation in professionally-led groups involves fees set by the individual therapist and a commitment to a specific number of sessions.

Bucks County
General Infertility Women's Support Group

This group is for women struggling with the difficult journey of infertility.  We welcome you to a supportive group of others who share some of your same feelings of helplessness, isolation, sadness and frustration. This group meets monthly and will provide information, coping strategies and most importantly- a safe place to unload and process your feelings. You are welcome to participate as much as you like or just come and listen; the purpose of the group is to connect with others who have similar feelings and learn new methods of coping to be able to move forward.

This group brings women together for emotional support and sharing in a friendly, supportive environment.  Women have the opportunity to share stories, learn coping strategies, and hear from scheduled speakers about topics ranging from relaxation techniques, acupuncture, nutrition, adoption and surrogacy.  
Fee: $35/session - RSVP required for this group.

Philadelphia
Infertility Coping Support Group
Meets Wednesday evenings 7:00-8:30 PM. This series runs for 10 weeks. Next group series starts January 28, 2015.

Are you feeling alone and isolated on your fertility journey? Do you feel anxious and depressed? Are you experiencing feelings of loss and sadness? Is infertility straining your marriage/relationship?  This 10 week group offers women a chance to connect with and feel supported by other women going through infertility. In addition to support, you will learn coping skills and relaxation techniques to help reduce anxiety and manage your life. Attendees receive a notebook full of handouts for follow through. Partners and husbands are invited to attend one session. Fees: Initial consultation is $50 and $40 per group session.

Pocono area
